There are more than 1,000 types of bamboo worldwide, but the appearance, colouring and tensile strength vary greatly from species to species. The Moso Bamboo (phyllostachys pubescens) has superior characteristics, and its fine grain and durability make it particularly suitable for flooring and panelling.

What are natural and carbonised?
Natural is the original colour of the bamboo. Carbonised is created using a steam-heating process that darkens the sugar compounds in the fibre.

Does the harvesting of the bamboo forest pose a threat to the panda bear?
Both the Giant Panda and the Small Panda live far away from the Moso Bamboo forests, in the mountains of central China where they feed on the smaller bush-like bamboo species. Moso Bamboo is no danger to them!
